Mourns ViEw <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: 8G <br />Meeting Date: August 12, 2019 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Director of Public Works <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9154, Approving the Purchase and Installation of <br />Electronic Locks at the City Hall Playground and Splash Pad <br />Building <br />Background/Discussion: <br />Staff determined during the construction phase of the mechanical and rest room building of the <br />Playground and Splash Pad at City Hall Park that electronic locks and door security systems <br />would be necessary. The electronic system would to help to secure the building and assist Public <br />Works Staff with the operations of the site. The locks were not part of project and not included <br />with the project costs. <br />Discussion: <br />Staff has received a quote from Pro -Tec Design, the current vendor for City Hall electronic door <br />locks who also participates in the CPV program through the State of MN, for the purchase in <br />installation of this system. Staff also received at quote from MTG (Master Technology Group) to <br />run fiber from Public Works to the park building. The following is a breakdown of the estimated <br />costs for the items: <br />• $9,234.15. Includes installation of new workstation, 3 doors with card readers, and <br />security system from Pro -Tech Design. <br />• $2,858.16 includes installing fiber from the Public Works Facility to the park <br />building from MTG. <br />This cost is not included in the 2019 budget and will require a budget adjustment of $12,092.31 <br />from account 451-4470-7050. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br />Financial Impact A budget adjustment of $12,092.31 is required to the 2019 budget, Special <br />Projects, fund 451-4470-7050 for the installation of electronic door locks to the City Hall Park and <br />Splash Pad Building. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the purchase and installation of the electronic door <br />locks and card readers from Pro -Tec design for $9,234.15. Staff also recommends the City <br />Council approve the quote from MTG, to install fiber from the Public Works Facility to the Park <br />building for $2,858.16.
