Ordinance 962, First Reading and Introduction of an Ordinance Granting to <br />2 CenterPoint Energy Resources, a Natural Gas Utility, A Delaware <br />3 Corporation, its Successors and Assigns, a Nonexclusive Franchise to <br />4 Construct, Operate, Repair and Maintain Facilities and Equipment for the <br />5 Transportation, Distribution, Manufacture, and Sale of Gas Energy for <br />6 Public and Private Use and to Use the Public Ways and Public Ground of the <br />7 City of Mounds View, Minnesota, for Such Purposes; and Prescribing <br />8 Certain Terms and Conditions Thereof. <br />9 <br />10 Finance Director Beer requested the Council grant CenterPoint Energy Resources a Nonexclusive <br />11 Franchise to Construct, Operate, Repair and Maintain Facilities and Equipment for the <br />12 Transportation, Distribution, Manufacture, and Sale of Gas Energy for Public and Private Use <br />13 and to Use the Public Ways and Public Ground of the City of Mounds View. He reported this <br />14 franchise with CenterPoint began in 1999. He noted the proposed franchise would allow <br />15 CenterPoint to continue operating in Mounds View and the document would include a sunset <br />16 provision. <br />17 <br />18 MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the First Reading and Introduce Ordinance 962, <br />19 an Ordinance Granting to CenterPoint Energy Resources, a Natural Gas Utility, A Delaware <br />20 Corporation, its Successors and Assigns, a Nonexclusive Franchise to Construct, Operate, Repair <br />21 and Maintain Facilities and Equipment for the Transportation, Distribution, Manufacture, and <br />22 Sale of Gas Energy for Public and Private Use and to Use the Public Ways and Public Ground of <br />23 the City of Mounds View, Minnesota, for Such Purposes; and Prescribing Certain Terms and <br />24 Conditions Thereof. <br />25 <br />26 Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />27 <br />28 D. Ordinance 965, First Reading and Introduction of an Ordinance Amending <br />29 Chapter 514 Relating to Lawful Gambling. <br />30 <br />31 City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council introduce an Ordinance amending Chapter <br />32 514 relating to Lawful Gambling. He reviewed the proposed change within the Code language <br />33 noting the Council was proposing to charge a 10% fee to those holding a charitable gambling <br />34 license. <br />35 <br />36 Council Member Meehlhause requested the Council discuss the charities that should benefit from <br />37 these dollars at a future worksession meeting. City Administrator Zikmund reported he would <br />38 bring this item back to the Council for further discussion at the October worksession meeting. <br />39 <br />40 MOTION/SECOND: Bergeron/Hull.
