Peterson, to extend the meeting to 9:00 5 <br />p.m. or no later than 9:15 p.m. in order to allow the Commission to address the 6 <br />remaining items on the agenda. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Clawson recommended the remaining items under Unfinished Business be tabled 9 <br />to the July meeting. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Thomas stated he believed it would be in the Charter Commission’s best interest 12 <br />to take action on these items at this meeting. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Clawson stated he would withdraw recommendation. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Motion Approved 5-4 (Klander, Reyes-Johnson, Staples and Warren opposed) 17 <br /> 18 <br />Unfinished Business 19 <br /> 20 <br />Process for Chapter 4. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Reyes-Johnson reported this item was addressed under her report. She asked if the 23 <br />Commission needed further information regarding this item. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Warren stated he would like a concise comment from staff regarding this item. City 26 <br />Administrator Zikmund reported the City Council has directed staff to work with the City 27 <br />Attorney to draft language for Chapter for, for 18 months. The Council would be 28 <br />adopting an Ordinance that would come before the Charter Commission recognizing the 29 <br />work completed by the Commission in the past 22 months. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Further discussion ensued regarding the process that would be followed to approve 32 <br />revisions of Chapter 4. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Reyes-Johnson asked if the current Chapter 4 would be provided to City Attorney Riggs. 35 <br />City Administrator Riggs reported the direction from City Council was to have City 36 <br />Attorney Riggs rewrite Chapter 4 with the goal of simplifying and incorporating the 18-37 <br />month election language. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Amundsen questioned if an Ordinance was proposed by the City and sent to the Charter 40 <br />Commission, the Commission has 60 days to review this to send back information to the 41 <br />Council. He expressed concern with timeline. He suggested the Commission draft 42 <br />language in conjunction with the City Attorney and that this language be forwarded to the 43 <br />City Council for feedback versus the other way around. 44 <br /> 45
