Mounds View Charter Commission September 17, 2019 Regular Meeting Page 4 Vice Chair. 1 2 There being no action on this item, Thomas recommended the Commission move on. 3 4 Handle a motion to declare the position of Chair vacant and discuss election of officers as 5 required by the Bylaws. 6 7 Thomas requested the Commission declare the Chair position vacant and elect an officer. 8 9 Motion by R. Warren, seconded by D. Erickson, to declare the Chair position 10 vacant. 11 Motion Approved 12 13 Motion by R. Warren, seconded by B. Clawson, that the Commission elect a Chair 14 as the first order of business under Unfinished Business at the next Charter 15 Commission meeting. 16 17 Warren stated he would like to have this issue be the first order of business at the 18 next meeting to have the Chair position filled. 19 20 Thomas stated the Commission could hold an election tonight. 21 22 Warren questioned how the election could be conducted given the fact the 23 vacancy was just declared. 24 25 Thomas reported once the vacancy was declared, an election could be held. He 26 explained he spoke to the City Attorney regarding this matter and was informed 27 an election could be held this evening. He asked if the Commission wanted to 28 hold off on the election to the next meeting given the fact two members were not 29 in attendance. 30 31 Amundsen stated if a member wanted to be considered for Chair, they had to have 32 one full-year of term on the Charter Commission. 33 34 Warren commented he stood by his motion and would like this item addressed as 35 the first item under Unfinished Business at the Charter Commission’s next 36 meeting. 37 38 Erickson stated he was in favor of holding the election at the next meeting so long 39 as all members were in attendance. 40 41 Thomas reported all members would be notified of the election prior to the 42 meeting. 43 44 Motion Approved 45
