Mounds View City Council November 25, 2019 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn reported she attended the Anoka County Fire Protection Board meeting <br />and the group voted to amend the bylaws noting the budgeting process for the Fire Board would <br />now align with the City’s budgeting process. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked everyone who attended the Mounds View Police <br />Foundation Waffle Breakfast that was sponsored by the Mounds View Lions. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented on the Twin Cities Gateway Board meeting he <br />attended last week noting 2019 would be the second-best year for hotel hospitality tax collection <br />for the organization. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported the YMCA Advisory Committee would be meeting on <br />Monday, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller stated she attended the Eight City Mayors Meeting and a North Metro Mayors <br />meeting last week. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller reported she attended the Ramsey County League of Local Government Annual <br />Meeting on Thursday, November 21st where the group heard from a speaker about growing <br />leadership and IT skills. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller explained the Festival in the Park Committee met on Tuesday, November 19th <br />and would meet next on Tuesday, December 17th. She indicated the group was seeking <br />volunteers to assist with fundraising for the 2020 event. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller congratulated City Administrator Nyle Zikmund and his wife, Terry, for <br />receiving Master Gardener Badges. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller reported Nora Slawik would be stepping down from Metro Cities. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller wished Deputy Police Chief Steven Bernard well in his retirement and thanked <br />him for his 23 years of dedicated service to the community. She noted his last day with the <br />Police Department would be Wednesday, November 27th. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund discussed a potential challenge course/playground that was being <br />proposed by Council Member Gunn. He reviewed the cost for the equipment and noted the Park, <br />Recreation and Forestry Commission supported the endeavor. He indicated a corporate partner <br />would be pursued to assist with covering the installation of the turf. <br /> <br />The City Council supported staff pursuing a corporate partner to assist with covering the expense <br />to install turf for the proposed challenge course. The Council recommended staff also seek grant <br />opportunities for the challenge course equipment.
