Mounds View City Council November 25, 2019 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Gunn reported she attended the Anoka County Fire Protection Board meeting 2 <br />and the group voted to amend the bylaws noting the budgeting process for the Fire Board would 3 <br />now align with the City’s budgeting process. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked everyone who attended the Mounds View Police 6 <br />Foundation Waffle Breakfast that was sponsored by the Mounds View Lions. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented on the Twin Cities Gateway Board meeting he 9 <br />attended last week noting 2019 would be the second-best year for hotel hospitality tax collection 10 <br />for the organization. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported the YMCA Advisory Committee would be meeting on 13 <br />Monday, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Mayor Mueller stated she attended the Eight City Mayors Meeting and a North Metro Mayors 16 <br />meeting last week. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Mayor Mueller reported she attended the Ramsey County League of Local Government Annual 19 <br />Meeting on Thursday, November 21st where the group heard from a speaker about growing 20 <br />leadership and IT skills. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Mueller explained the Festival in the Park Committee met on Tuesday, November 19th 23 <br />and would meet next on Tuesday, December 17th. She indicated the group was seeking 24 <br />volunteers to assist with fundraising for the 2020 event. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mayor Mueller congratulated City Administrator Nyle Zikmund and his wife, Terry, for 27 <br />receiving Master Gardener Badges. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Mayor Mueller reported Nora Slawik would be stepping down from Metro Cities. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Mayor Mueller wished Deputy Police Chief Steven Bernard well in his retirement and thanked 32 <br />him for his 23 years of dedicated service to the community. She noted his last day with the 33 <br />Police Department would be Wednesday, November 27th. 34 <br /> 35 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 36 <br /> 37 <br />City Administrator Zikmund discussed a potential challenge course/playground that was being 38 <br />proposed by Council Member Gunn. He reviewed the cost for the equipment and noted the Park, 39 <br />Recreation and Forestry Commission supported the endeavor. He indicated a corporate partner 40 <br />would be pursued to assist with covering the installation of the turf. 41 <br /> 42 <br />The City Council supported staff pursuing a corporate partner to assist with covering the expense 43 <br />to install turf for the proposed challenge course. The Council recommended staff also seek grant 44 <br />opportunities for the challenge course equipment. 45
