Item No. 6 B <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From: Don Peterson — Public Works Director <br />Date: November 16, 2017 <br />RE: Public Works Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. <br />Maintenance <br />Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br />• Continued Exterior Painting of Random Park Shelter — East Side Spring of 2018 <br />• Installed hockey rink boards on West end at Hillview Park, leveled inside of rink area <br />• Adjusted lights for both rinks <br />• Continued fall mowing and leaf removal <br />Planted trees at Oakwood Park <br />• Prepare both Hillview and Lambert Hockey rinks for winter season <br />Forestry <br />Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br />• Meet with tree contractor for cost estimate on last few residential trees <br />• Discussed the City Arborist needs for the short term <br />Discussed trees letters with several residents <br />The following projects are planned this year. Current updates are in black text, and updates from <br />the previous two month period are in grey. <br />Silver View Park <br />Relocate Disc Golf Course: <br />• Ramsey County will be clearing the ditch along County Rd I and Silver Lake Road starting <br />in August, hoping it is dryer by then. <br />• Eagle Scout will start on July 1 with the installation of the T boxes, Public Works Staff <br />started to remove some of the stumps, spread chips and prep T box sites <br />• Eagle Scout has completed the t — boxes, staff is working to move the baskets and <br />complete the wood chipping the trails, current plan is to have the course open beginning of <br />September. <br />• Staff completed installing the baskets and finished wood chipping the trails, signs will be <br />added when they arrive from the vendor. Course will be ready to be opened Sept 1, 2017 <br />• Disc Golf Signs need to be installed — have not been delivered — checking on status <br />• Ramsey County started tree removal along County Road I and Silver View Road in order <br />to re -profile the draining ditch on the North and West side of the park. Public Works Staff <br />has received numerous calls with concerns and complaints on the tree removal. <br />
