Item No. 6 B <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From: Don Peterson — Public Works Director <br />Date: May 24, 2018 <br />RE: Public Works Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. <br />Maintenance <br />Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br />• Mowing, spring clean up <br />• Ball field prep and painting lines <br />• Irrigation start systems and repair <br />• Deep clean buildings for summer use <br />• Work with Trane Building Services, exhaust vent at Groveland Park Building was replaced <br />• Training new seasonal staff members <br />• Put up tennis, volley ball and batting cage nets. <br />• Startup drinking fountains <br />• Repair pitching mound at Greenfield Park <br />Forestry <br />Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br />• Develop EAB program and have City Attorney Review <br />• Inspect a few private trees for EAB <br />• City Council Reviewed and had the 1st Reading of Ordinance 945 Change (copy attached) <br />• Work with Community Development on Tree Contractor updating licensed <br />The following projects are planned this year. Current updates are in black text, and updates from <br />the previous two month period are in grey. <br />Silver View Park <br />Relocate Disc Golf Course: <br />• Ramsey County started tree removal along County Road I and Silver View Road in order <br />to re -profile the draining ditch on the North and West side of the park. Public Works Staff <br />has received numerous calls with concerns and complaints on the tree removal. <br />• Ramsey County continues to work in re -profiling the draining ditch along County Road I <br />and Silver View Road, located in Silver View Park. <br />City Hall Campus: <br />Irrigation & Landscaping Improvements: <br />■ Playground equipment was approved and ordered. <br />• Received Splash Pad plans, contractor currently reviewing for installation costs. <br />• Continue vision planning — after spring tour <br />Groveland Park: <br />Tennis/Basketball Court Rehabilitation (Design): <br />• Fred Kolkman working on plans and specs, a couple questions have been asked will be <br />discussed tonight. <br />• City attorney is review the contract documents <br />• Plans and Specs sent out to contractors — bid opening May 30' at 10:00am. <br />
