PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. I SEMTEMBER 27, 20181 MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL _ <br />MEETING MINUTES MUUNDS VIEW <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:34 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: <br />Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, *Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Palm, Rundle, <br />Staff: Peterson I YMCA: Thomas *to be absent <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Aukee, 2"d by Palm. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF August 23, 2018 MINUTES: Motion to approve by Aukee 2"d by Kunz. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight's agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and <br />address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. NO RESIDENTS PRESENT <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA: See attached report: Open House -about 100 people attended! Launching new fitness <br />programming starting Oct 15, including small group (4-6) and personal training (1-1). 30-40 <br />participants expected in Youth in Government. Youth league ages will change beginning 2019 to <br />include 1st graders. <br />B. Public Works / Forestry: See attached report. Met Andy Nelson, Public Works Parks' Forestry <br />Maintenance Worker who will be getting Arborist license soon! Call the City Forestry Hotline if you <br />have questions. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Park Improvement Plan: Table until October. <br />B. 2019 Fee Schedule — Review: Staff recommended increased rates for Silverview soccer fields to $50 <br />per 2 hour time slot, $15 per 2 hours for YOUTH baseball and softball fields, $75 Service fee at <br />buildings for groups of 50 or more or 10 bags of trash. Current tournament rates apply to all fields <br />except Silverview soccer which has recommended fee change of $50 per 2 hours. <br />Options for renting Silverview: <br />Option 1) 200 people with 8 hour rental including VB, BB, Horseshoe and 100 feet around the <br />building for $500 <br />Option 2) As is with $75 service fee per 50 people over limit for the building only. <br />Motion by Palm, 2"d by Aukee to approve suggested changes to the fee schedule as passed by <br />Staff above and Option 1 for renting Silverview Park. Motion Passed 6-0. <br />8. NEW BUSINES <br />A. EAB Update: Mailings to go out to residents in October and in the spring regarding EAB and <br />treatment options. Staggered tree removal plan for ash trees in City parks along with <br />replanting other trees over next three years. <br />9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Music of the Knight this Saturday, 5:00 at Irondale. Trim oak trees as of <br />Nov. 1 after the first hard freeze. Find meeting minutes via City website. Update on HIS students joining <br />Commission meetings? Nothing yet. Need tree trimming on Greenfield trail <br />10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS: PIP and Forestry Plan <br />11. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn at 7:46 PM by Aukee 2"d by Kunz.
