CITY OF SAINT PAUL
Kelly, Mayor
June 11, 2003
Honorable Thomas Mott
Chief Judge of Ramsey District Court
Ramsey County Courthouse
50 W. Kellogg Blvd.
St. Paul, MN 55102
Johnathan Thomas
Chairman, Charter Commission
City of Moundsview
2401 Highway 10
Moundsview, MN 55112-1499
Honorable Chief Judge and Mr. Thomas:
OFFICE OF THE CITY ATTORNEY
Manuel J. Cervantes. City Attorney
Criminal Division
500 City Hall Telephone: 651266-8740
15 West Kellogg Blvd. Facsimile: 651298-5532
Saint Paul, Minnesota 55102
I am writing at this time with great regret that I am no longer able to serve as a member the
Moundsview Charter Commission. Thus, this letter serves as my resignation from membership of
this excellent position which I was appointed to by former Chief Judge Cohen in late 1999.
I have recently sold my home in Moundsview and will soon be moving to a Minneapolis residence
which I recently purchased. I believe it to be a conflict to be serving upon a commission for which
I am no longer a resident of the applicable county. I will remember my time on the commission as
a time of tremendous growth and development of that commission. When I was appointed, the
commission was fractured and in serious conflict with the Mayor and city council. Through that
process, a new leader of the commission (Mr. Thomas), was selected and has done an excellent job
of unifying the interests of the elected city posts with that of Moundsview charter with the current
members of the commission.
In closing, I thank the court and the city of Moundsview for giving me the opportunity to serve its
citizens for the past few years. If I regain residency in Ramsey County in the future, it would be an
honor to serve in that post again. As always, I remain available for any legal questions the members
of the commission may have in the future.
Daniel
AA -ADA -EEO Employer
