The Mounds View Vision A Thriving Desirable Community Item No: 8C Meeting Date: February 24, 2020 Type of Business: Council Business Administrator Review: ____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9239, Approving the Purchase of Two – 2020 F350 Service Pickup Trucks Background/Discussion: As part of the Public Works Department’s maintenance program, service trucks are purchased for the departments to perform maintenance and inspections required throughout the City. The Street Department has in use a 2006 Ford 350 truck, unit #442. The Parks Department has a 2006 F350, unit #310, both units have dump bodies and are used for daily operations, inspections and hauling materials associated with water main breaks, tree removal, hauling trash along with other various tasks. Discussion: Staff has received a quote from the State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture Program (CPV) for two new 2020 F350 4x4 Regular Cab and chassis for a cost of $32,319.68 each; a total of $64,639.36 from Midway Ford of Roseville MN. In addition to the Cab and chassis, Staff has received a quote from the CPV program from North Central Bus and Equipment, their branch office in Mounds View, (main office is St. Cloud MN) for a dump body, hoist, installation, and options for $17,286.86 each or a total of $34,573.72. In addition Staff has received a quote form Doug’s Power Equipment for a Truck debris Loader with hitch mount for $5,370.35. Total cost for each unit with the dump bodies installed is $49,606.54. These units are in the 2020 Vehicle and Equipment (fund) Budget. Budgeted amount in the Street Department 460-4470-7040 of $50,000.00, and the Park Department 460-4360-7040 of $54,000.00. Service trucks #442 and #310 will be sold at auction and the monies received will be used to offset the total cost of the new units. Financial Impact: 2020 budgeted in the Vehicle and Equipment Fund, accounts 460- 4470-7040, Streets of $50,000.00 and 460-4360-7040 Parks for $54,000.00.
