The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br /> <br /> Item No: 8F <br />Meeting Date: February 24, 2020 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9247, Approve the Proposals for Painting, Carpet, and <br />a New Administration Entrance as part of Phase 2 for the City Hall <br />/ Police Remodel <br /> <br />Background/ Discussion: <br /> <br />The City Council approved the City Hall / Police Remodel on May 13, 2019, Resolution 9112. <br />Staff has discussed with the Council at various Work Sessions, phase 2 of the remodel which <br />includes painting and new carpet in all areas of City Hall. The carpet and painting was last done <br />in 2006 as part of City Hall Remodel. The 2020 Budget includes funds for the next portion of this <br />remodel. <br /> <br /> Public Works has received the following quotes for phase 2 of the City Hall Remodel; <br /> <br />Painting: <br />Patrick Miller Construction: $76,324.00 <br />RAK Construction: $71,717.00 <br />Nakasone: $37,356.25 <br /> <br />Carpet: <br />Patrick Miller Construction: $94,537.92 <br />RAK Construction: $66,989.00 <br />Cap Carpet & Flooring, LLC: $48,266.50 <br /> <br />New Administration Entrance: <br />Dering Pierson Group, LLC: $22,350.71 <br />Patrick Miller Construction: $19,172.00 <br />RAK Construction: $18,400.00 <br /> <br />The low bid for the painting of the entire City Hall (up and downstairs) is Nakasone Painting of St. <br />Paul MN at $37,356.25. The low bid for the replacement carpeting is Cap Carpet of New Brighton <br />MN at $48,266.50. The low bid for the new Administration front entrance appears to be RAK <br />Construction of East Bethel, MN. (As of this report, Staff has not reached a consensus on the <br />layout of the new Administration entrance.) Staff will recommend an allowance of $39,500.00 be <br />allocated for the entrance, this will include the construction and installation of the electric door <br />hardware. <br /> <br />Along with the project Staff has discussed replacing the Council chairs. Public Works Staff has <br />received an estimated off the Cooperative Purchasing Venture (CPV) a cost to replace the guest <br />seating at $11,612.00. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
