Mounds View City Council February 24, 2020 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Gunn asked if the job description was the same as it was or had the job 2 <br />description been amended. City Administrator Zikmund reported this was the same job 3 <br />description, with one additional statement noting it was desirable for candidates to be or be 4 <br />interested in becoming an SBM Fire Fighter. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Mayor Mueller questioned if this would be difficult to find candidates with this qualification. 7 <br />City Administrator Zikmund explained he spoke with Command Staff at the SBM Fire 8 <br />Department and there were already two candidates interested in this position. He anticipated 9 <br />there may be more. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Mayor Mueller wished Jacob Martin all the best in his endeavors. 12 <br /> 13 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Bergeron. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9243, 14 <br />Authorization to Hire for the Housing Code Fire Inspector Position. 15 <br /> 16 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 17 <br /> 18 <br />6. Resolution 9241, Approving the Hire of Nathanial Ostlund for the Position of 28 <br />Facilities Maintenance/Building Custodian. 29 <br /> 30 <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council approve the hire of Nathanial Ostlund for the 31 <br />position of Facilities Maintenance/Building Custodian. He described the hiring process that was 32 <br />followed for this position and noted Mr. Ostlund had been a seasonal worker for Mounds View 33 <br />that was now interested in working full-time. Staff commented further on proposed hire and 34 <br />recommended approval. 35 <br /> 36 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9241, 37 <br />Approving the Hire of Nathanial Ostlund for the Position of Facilities Maintenance/Building 38 <br />Custodian. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Bergeron stated he was pleased the City had an employee that had moved from 41 <br />a part-time position to a full-time position. He believed the City was doing something right 42 <br />because employees wanted to stay and advance their career. 43 <br /> 44 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 45
