PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | FEBRUARY 25, 2010 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING AGENDA <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:33 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: Kunz, Palm, Kroeger, Arel, Aukee, Peterson | Staff: DeBar, Prindle <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Move YMCA update lower on the agenda for when Prindle arrives. <br />Add Town Hall Meeting to New Business B. Motion to approve amended agenda by Palm, <br />2nd by Kroeger. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />A. January 28, 2010 Meeting Minutes. Made several typographical changes. Changed Rick <br />Wriskey tree planting to Groveland Park, not Greenfield Park. Motion to approve as <br />changed by Kroeger, 2nd by Aukee. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br />name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present. <br />6. YMCA UPDATE <br />A. Program Updates: 6th Annual Garage Sale This Saturday, February 27th, 8am-1pm. <br /> April 17th 12-2 Spring Fling. Spring programs now open for registration. Can sign up for <br /> Summer Park Program <br /> <br />B. 2010 Music-in-the-Park Update: Looking at local high school and professional music <br />school jazz band for the first night, and a larger group for the last event. <br /> <br />C. Annual Report shared: Roughly 800 more people using the fields and buildings more in <br />2009 compared to 2008. Shared ice rink usage. A bit more usage in 2010 vs. 2009. Three <br />rental requests. One was allowed due to request during non-peak hours. As indoor ice fees <br />increase, may need to consider fee charges for outdoor rink rental next season. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Update on Coach of the Year Award: Have received two nominations. Motion for <br />candidate #2, EB, as the Volunteer Coach of the Year for 2009 by Kroeger, 2nd by <br />Aukee. Motion Passed 6-0. Arel will contact recipient to attend the Town Hall <br />meeting. <br />8. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Discuss Potential Improvements for Proposed Memorial at Greenfield Park Baseball Field <br /> *Ideas include a batting cage, dug-outs, scoreboard, artificial grass in the infield. Need cost <br /> estimates. Representatives from IBL were in attendance and liked all ideas. Favored <br /> batting cages. Meeting with donor to be held March 1. Arel will attend with DeBar. <br /> More information to come at March meeting. <br /> <br />B. Town Hall Meeting: Monday, March 29th 6:00-8:30 PM at City Hall. Display for Lambert Park <br /> at Public Works counter. Park Promotion video, Facility Guide Brochures available. DeBar <br />will verify our invitation.
