Start <br />Determine if <br />sediment needs to <br />be removed from <br />Pond <br />Consider where <br />dredge material <br />may be placed. <br />Review permitting <br />criteria. Obtain <br />CSW permit and <br />Dredge reuse <br />approval if <br />required. <br />Dredge the <br />sediment using <br />best management <br />practices <br />End <br />Periodically inspect the <br />pond. Rule of thumb is when <br />sediment volume <br />approaches 50% of the <br />design volume of the pond <br />or less than 3 ft of water <br />depth the sediment needs to <br />be removed <br />Variables for determining <br />where dredge material can <br />be placed are: <br />Particle size, current and <br />future land use, <br />Contaminant level, <br />Volume of material <br />Is a sediment reuse approval <br />required and or is a <br />Construction Storm water <br />Permit required.? <br />Whether or not permits are <br />required, sediment and <br />erosion control is required; <br />proper reuse or disposal of <br />sediment is also required <br /> <br />Characterize <br />Sediment to be <br />dredged <br />Take core samples from the <br />pond.
