09-23-2010 <br />PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | AUGUST 26, 2010 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:37 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: Kunz, Palm, Kroeger, Arel, Long, Aukee, Peterson | Staff: DeBar, Dazenski <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Aukee. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />A. July 22, 2010 Meeting Minutes. Minutes unavailable. Wait until September meeting. <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br />name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present <br />6. YMCA UPDATE <br />A. Program Updates via email. Fall programs now available. <br /> Soccer begins tonight with 10 teams. Swim lesson start 9/13. <br /> <br />B. 2010 Music-in-the-Park Update. Successful. We have funds to run a similar format next <br />year. One area of improvement would be to advertise similarly to Festival in the Park one <br />week before. Also begin 30-minutes later. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Discuss Lambert Park Facilities Layout / On-Street Parking <br /> Discussed orienting the building at an angle and remove smaller tree. <br /> Discussed handicapped parking at current access point to parking lot (future building site) <br /> and possibly continue toward Jackson. <br /> Concerns about parallel parking on north side of Lambert and diagonal parking on south <br /> side of Lambert. <br /> Must we continue parking only on west side of Jackson south from the apartment’s <br /> parking? Or can we shift south of Bronson to parking on east/park side? <br /> Do we want to preserve trees on Lambert or use for parking? <br /> Angled vs. straight 90º parking <br /> Concerns about NOT using Park Dedication Funds for parking spaces. <br /> <br /> Direct Staff to contact Rick Wriskey to investigate the condition and survivability of <br /> larger trees on Lambert. <br /> <br /> Use September 20th Street and Utilities Committee meeting which is already inviting <br /> area residents to discuss off-street parking on south side of Lambert for <br /> approximately 25 spaces. Jackson residents only are invited. <br /> <br /> Direct Staff to invite residents on Jackson and Lambert to our meeting on Sept. 23rd <br /> to discuss park amenities and scenarios. <br />
