Motion
Passed 5-0.
6. PUBLIC INPUT
Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full
name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present.
7. YMCA UPDATE
A. Program Updates: Rich Spiczka. Zumba classes are full. Playdays four days per week and
pre-school sports have good attendance. Upcoming programs: Summer Parks program to
include extended care for drop-off at 8:00 and pick-up at 6:00. Park program runs from 9-12
and 1-4 for half days; or full days 9-4. Due to Lambert Park construction, one program will
operate at MVCC. New Brighton will have a different program this summer, so we may
draw other participants from New Brighton. Even if not involved in the Park Program,
children can participate for the Friday Field Trips for a fee. Early registration waives a $25
registration fee. Summer ball programs are open for registration. Looking for volunteer
coaches. Spring Fling on April 16, 11-1:30. $5 per family. Looking for more Senior
opportunities: Thursdays 10-11:30 MVCC will have bingo. Card Club begins 10-12 on
Mondays. See MVMatters for details.
B. Discuss Coach of the Year Process: Looking for a way to make the nomination process
easier and include in program evaluations. Anyone who would like to nominate a coach
should contact MVCC. Spiczka will tweak the program evaluation forms to include Coach of
the Year nomination and bring to next Commission meeting for review.
8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Discuss Proposed Interior Revisions to Random Park Building. No recent response from
MV Lions Club. Spiczka will contact other groups that use the building to see if they
use that space and could live without the smaller room.
9. NEW BUSINESS
A. Discuss Long Term Plan for Park Building & Shelter Locations and Associated Amenities
If we want to keep the hockey rink at Lambert, we need a four-season building. Hillview
would not be able to accommodate users from both Hillview and Lambert. Could eliminate
Groveland ice skating to open up for more rental opportunities; or have it open only if no
one has reserved it. Consensus is to move forward with Lambert Park Building. Perhaps
make Groveland a more “homey” atmosphere to attract rentals if not used for ice skating.
Consider making a comprehensive plan for each park.
