The following are expectations for formal Bike and Walkway configurations. Formal as in those that would be identified on a map
and marked with signs.
• Bikeway – No or limited parking conflict, clear path with visibility consistent with speed, continuous and maintained. On or
Off street, 4-8’ wide, May or may not be paved.
• Walkway – Clear path with visibility consistent with speed, continuous, maintained, with potential shared usage with
pedestrians. Off street, 4’ wide minimum, may or may not be paved.
The following proposes formal Bike and Walkways through the City of Mounds View, the connecting landmarks and current status of
the route. Parks, Civic and Educational facilities were considered as well as connection with other regional trailways. However, bus
routes were not a consideration, although probably sufficiently addressed indirectly.
Road –
North/South
Proposed
Bikeway
Proposed
Walkway
Connecting Landmarks Status
Long Lake Road Yes Yes Connects Random and Arden Parks
and Irondale HS
Full North/South route
Separate on street bikeway and
sidewalks along majority of length –
North end needs attention at Co Rd J
Silver Lake Road –
Red Oak
Yes Yes Connects Silverview and Woodcrest
Parks
Full North/South route
Sidewalk along entire Silver Lake Road.
Sidewalk along portion of Red Oak by CR
10
Quincy Yes Yes Connects Oakwood and Greenfield
Parks, Pinewood Elementary and into
industrial area
Sidewalk along portion of length
Groveland Yes No Connects Groveland Park On street bike path along portion of
length
Edgewood Yes Yes Connects Edgewood MS, City Hall, City
Hall Park and Community Center
Reconstructed portion of street has
defined sidewalk and bikeways

Road –East/West Proposed
Bikeway
Proposed
Walkway
Connecting Landmarks Status
Co Rd H Yes Yes Connects Edgewood MS, Irondale HS,
Sunnyside Elementary, Rice Creek
North Regional Trail, future link to
TCAAP development
Full East/West route
Sidewalk on one or both sides for
majority of length
Co Rd H2 Yes Yes Connects Silverview Park and through
industrial area
Full East/West route
Sidewalks along portion of length
Co Rd I Yes Yes Connects Silverview and Lakeside
Parks, Pinewood Elementary, and
Shoreview pathways
Full East/West route
Sidewalks along portion of length
Co Rd J (85th) No Yes Connection to Blaine and Shoreview
trailways and Long Lake Road trailway
Full East/West route
Sidewalks along portion of length on
south side
Arden No Yes Connects Groveland and Arden Parks On street bike path along portion of
length
Hillview No Yes Connects Hillview and Greenfield Parks On street bike path along portion of
length
Priorities:
Fill the Gaps: Short Term - Co Rd H walkway (sidewalk) between Edgewood and Silver Lake Road coinciding with street construction
project in area. Medium Term – Complete Co Rd 10 trailways (North and South sides), Long Lake Rd at north end, continuation of
existing walkways along main E/W and N/S routes.
Other Thoughts: Recreation ≠ Bus Commuter Use
