M E M O R A N D U M
TO: PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSIONERS
FROM: STEVE DAZENSKI | PARKS SUPERVISOR
DATE: DECEMBER 14, 2011
RE: REPORT ON LAMBERT BUILDING PROGRESS, PARKS AND SKATING RINKS
The Lambert building is finally showing signs of progress. There were some change orders, waits
for the various permits, (specifically plumbing) and some decisions that needed to be made
regarding materials. The weather has certainly been in the contractors favor for the time of the year.
The Building is up, electric and plumbing has been roughed in, windows and doors have been hung
and the roof has shingles. The excavators were there this morning doing inside soil corrections,
adding sand for the base and leveling it out. The floor will be poured very soon.
All the parks have been gone thru prepping them for the winter that has yet to arrive. We did start
establishing ice but we will hold off for a while till the weather turns. We did get a base going and
some saturation however what ice we did have has melted. I have given a heads up to the YMCA
that we may not be making our projected December 19th opening now it is definite! However as
soon as it gets cold enough we will strive to get the rinks running ASAP.
We were hit with “permanent marker graffiti” at Groveland last week, the building, playground
equipment and even the electrical box’s. The police were notified and they took pictures and wrote
a report. I have not heard anything from them as far as an arrest.
We will be talking to the residents alongside Hillview Park concerning the proposed hockey rink,
lighting and plantings. Our Forrester is putting together a plan for a “green” light and sound buffer.
Equipment has been worked on and will continue to be during the winter months.
ITEM NO. 9B
