<br />9. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Discuss Adopt-A-Park Program: We have a program in place. Encourage interested parties <br />to contact Steve Dazenski. Will advertise on website and MVMatters. Have MVCC pass out <br />flyers to building renters to promote. <br />B. Review Municipal Code Chapter 203 (Funds): <br />Discussed Lakeside Park Fund, Park and Playground Fund, and Recreation Activity Fund. <br />203.04 Subd 2, 4 and 5: Lakeside Park Fund: Need to clarify “Director of Parks, Recreation <br />and Forestry…” Is this the Commission or the Public Works Director? <br />203.04 Subd 6: The Council may transfer funds into the “Recreation Activity Fund” from any <br />source… should say “into Lakeside Park Fund.” <br />203.05 Park and Playground Fund. Is this the Park Dedication Fund? Should it be <br />renamed? <br />203.06 Subd 2, 4 and 6: Recreation Activity Fund: “Director of Parks, Recreation and <br />Forestry” <br />How do we get errors or questions answered regarding changes in the terminology of the <br />code? Do we need to go through the Charter Commission? City Council? City Attorney? <br />Should we invite Mark Beer to a meeting to discuss funding sources? <br />C. Added Item: Ordinance 871 Chapter 605: Shade Tree Disease and Pest Control <br />adjustments made by City Council <br />D. Discuss May Parks Tour Agenda and Yearly Tour Schedule <br />Lambert Park (5:30) then Lakeside Park if time. <br />10. REPORTS <br />A. Reports of Commission Members: <br />Peterson: We need to be realistic about our priorities each year for what our staff can <br />handle and what our financial resources can accomplish. <br />Kroeger: Status of Lambert Building? Not ready for rental as final inspector has not <br />occurred. Need to hear from City Staff if they feel we cannot complete Lambert playground, <br />Silverview Trail, and Hillview Rink all this year so we can prioritize. <br />Palm: What is the process for signing trails when we spray? Once it’s dry it’s fine. <br />B. Reports of City Staff: Dazenski: Sprayed for crabgrass, broad leaf and clover control. <br />Spring fertilizing done in all parks. Irrigation has been turned on. Drinking fountains on, nets are <br />out. Ball fields are in operation as is soccer at Silverview. Litter and vandalism is still an issue. <br />11. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS <br />A. Next Regular Commission Meeting: May 24, 2012 (7:00 start time) <br />1. Parks Tour (5:30 – 6:30 before meeting) <br />2. Review Municipal Code Chapter 909 (Parks & Recreation) <br />3. Cost estimates and layout options for Hillview rink <br />4. Silverview Trailway replacement: Debar and Dazenski <br />5. BBC history and update <br />12. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn at 8:00 PM by Long, 2nd by Kunz. Motion Passed 7-0. <br />
