RESOLUTION 8104 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />APPROVING PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT AND SITE WORK AT <br />SILVER VIEW PARK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the playground equipment at Silver View Park is over 20-years old and <br />in need of replacement; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Works and the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission <br />(Commission) have reviewed options for the playground and recommend relocating the <br />playground location to the east/southeast side of the park shelter; and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground of Golden Valley, Minnesota prepared <br />a proposed playground equipment layout for the new location that includes three <br />playground units (toddler, age 5-12, and swing set), concrete border, and engineered wood <br />fiber media for a total cost of $105,151.47; and <br />WHEREAS, two existing equipment units (whirl and space climber) are <br />recommended to be refurbished and incorporated into the new playground layout; and <br />WHEREAS, additional work involving site grading and turf restoration are needed to <br />accommodate the new playground location. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds <br />View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The playground equipment layout and proposal submitted by Minnesota/Wisconsin <br />Playground to furnish and install three playground units, concrete border, and fiber <br />media fill at Lambert Park for $105,151.47 is hereby accepted by the City. <br />2. The Director of Public Works is directed to contract for additional work to accommodate <br />the new playground layout including site grading, turf restoration, and <br />refurbishment/reinstallation of the whirl and space climber units for an estimated total <br />amount of $5,000. <br />3. A 5% contingency of $5,000 is approved in the event that additional related or <br />unforeseen work is required to complete the work. The use of contingency monies will <br />require pre-approval by the Director of Public Works. <br />4.
