ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, Katovich, Kunz, Kroeger, Palm, Long <br /> Staff: DeBar, Peterson* | YMCA: Danielson <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Kroeger. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion to approve by Kunz, 2nd by Arel. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />A. February 27, 2014 Meeting <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br />name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present. <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA: Danielson. Summer Program at 50% for teens, 35% for elementary school. Teen <br />Art Studio and Messy Play are going great. Active Adult programs are getting regular <br />participants. Event revenue is down from political and church groups changing reservations. <br />Gym is looking good with new lighting and polished floor and getting more use and <br />revenue. Building rentals are up from last year, but revenue is down slightly. Field rentals <br />are up from last year. Healthy Family Celebration April 26 form 10-12. <br />Music-in-the-Park is set with North Suburban Concert Band, Teddy Bear Band, and The <br />Tyrel and Aaron Show, and will be held at Silverview Park. Festival in the Park 5K run on <br />August 16 registration is now open. Offering same age soccer program for summer as fall. <br />Discussed putting up temporary signs around the community at the various parks to <br />advertise the new location and the event. <br />Reminder for ice rink attendants to record the number of people using the ice rinks even if <br />users don’t sign in. They could do a head count every hour. <br />B. Public Works: Reviewed Staff Report dated 3/27/14 for personnel, maintenance, forestry <br />position, and upcoming projects. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Review Park and Recreation Facilities Improvement Plan: Looking into working with <br />Roseville IT to install security doors and cameras for each park building. Start focus on City <br />Hall and MVCC to start. Looking to get a consultant for trail design at Silverview. Consider <br />design phase of tennis courts at Greenfield and Groveland in 2014. Direct Staff to find our <br />cost estimates for reconstruction. Put on annual parks tour. Direct Staff to pull aerial <br />views of each park and have available of Commissioners. <br />B. Review Mounds View Parks and Trails System: City Staff will make a technical copy and <br />the Commission will review in June. The Plan will be used in planning street projects and <br />future projects. <br />8. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Discuss Joint Meeting with City Council: Silverview playground and disc golf course. Trail <br />ideas. Tennis courts. Process for elimination of amenities, or things the Council might like to <br />see in future parks. BBC contributions. Wait until after May parks tour and then meet with <br />the Council at June 2nd Work Session.
