PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | OCTOBER 23, 2014 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:33 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Long, Palm, Rundle <br /> Staff: DeBar, Peterson* | YMCA: Danielson *to be absent <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Eliminate the approval of minutes, Item 4, since no minutes are available. <br />Motion to approve amended agenda by Kroeger, 2nd by Kunz to approve. Motion passed 8-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />A. May 22, 2014 Meeting <br />B. September 25, 2014 Meeting <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and <br />address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA: See YMCA notes. Increased hours approved by City Council due to increased usage weekday <br />mornings and on weekend evenings. M-Th 8am-9pm, F-Sat 8am-10 pm, Sun 10am-8pm. Looking into <br />adult and youth kickball leagues for next year. <br />B. Public Works: See Public Works notes. Disc golf course at Silverview update: course designer will <br />progress the course design this month for Commission review in November. Tree removal in late <br />fall/early winter. Direct Staff to provide layout for parking at Groveland Park: 90º vs. 60º angled. <br />Consider options for the green space north of the ball field. Batting cage? Parking lot? Plant trees? <br />Leave alone as green space for warming up? Plan for parking on west side of Groveland with sidewalk <br />on east side. This decreases possibility of young children running between cars, and adds safety with <br />the sidewalk on the east side. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Review Park Improvement Plan: Commission to look over and prioritize at November meeting. <br />8. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Consider Application of Steven Roste for Appointment to Commission Seat. Motion by Kroeger, 2nd by <br />Kunz to recommend that Steve Roste be appointed to the Commission. Motion passed 8-0. <br />9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Kroeger reminds residents about the park usage opportunities at Arden <br />Park behind the compost site. <br />10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS <br />Discuss 2015 Meeting Schedule <br />Update park brochure <br />Groveland Park improvements including parking <br />Silverview disc golf course <br /> <br />11.
