PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | MARCH 31, 2016 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AT 6:35 PM <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL: <br />Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Long, Palm, Rundle*, Roste* <br /> Staff: Erickson, Peterson | YMCA: Danielson *to be absent <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm. 2nd by Long. Motion Passed 6-0. <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br />A. February 25, 2016: Current packet has the minutes from February tacked on to March <br />agenda, so the numbering of minutes is continuous. Original minutes document is <br />numbered correctly. Motion to approve with amended numbering in the packet to match <br />original minutes by Arel, 2nd by Kroeger. Motion Passed 6-0. <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your <br />full name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present. <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA: See attached report. YMCA Togetherhood Volunteer Event – April 23rd 9 am - <br />12 pm. Park clean-up starting at Silverview Park. May move to more parks from there if <br />enough volunteers. Hoping to advertise on website and city electronic sign. Contact <br />MVCC if interested. <br />B. Public Works: See attached report. Tree City USA proclamation at Woodcrest Park on <br />Friday, April 29th. TBD. Need City Council, Staff, and PRF Commissioners to attend if <br />possible. Need to keep a watch on what RCWD is doing at Greenfield Park with the <br />ditch so as not to impact the batting cage. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINES <br />A. Groveland Park – 2015 Improvements – (No update at this time). <br />B. Hillview Hockey Rink – continue discussion of layout, rink light repairs – (No update at <br />this time). <br />C. City Hall Park - continue discussion on splash pad, playground, picnic area and <br />shelters, rest rooms, changing areas – update – (Staff will update the Park & <br />Recreation & Forestry Commission-information from the City Council retreat of March <br />21, 2016). The Council wants the Commission to look at the whole park facilities at City <br />Hall Park and come up with a long-term vision. Direct Staff to provide a layout of the <br />park with amenity options to layout and move around as well as the age and condition <br />of the current amenities (shelters, playground, new Public Works building, etc). Would <br />there be room to include a community garden? Palm, and Kroeger, and Arel will gather <br />information from Staff to look at options. <br />
