PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | MAY 26, 2016 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. Park tour Meet at Woodcrest, Park at 5:30 pm <br />(Random and City Hall will be the other parks on the tour) <br /> <br />2. CALL TO ORDER at 6:40 PM <br /> <br />3. ROLL CALL: <br />Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Long, Palm, Rundle, Roste* <br /> Staff: Peterson | YMCA: Danielson *to be absent <br />4. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion by Arel to approve, 2nd by Long. Motion Passed 8-0 <br />5. SPECIAL BUSINESS: No special business tonight! <br />6. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />A. April 28, 2016: Motion to approve by Kunz, 2nd by Rundle. Motion Passed 8-0 <br />7. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br />name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. Council Member, Gary <br />Meehlhause: The National Lions Club is celebrating 100 years in 2017 and is asking local <br />organizations to think of a project that they can financially support within the city. Consider <br />pairing with Spring Lake Park Lions as an option as well. <br />8. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA: See attached report. MVCC Event Center will have its own website soon. Music and <br />Movies in the Park dates: June 16, July 21, Aug 18 from 7-8 pm at Silverview. Festival in <br />the Park August 20. Irondale is reserving the Silverview Park basketball courts without fees. <br />Seems to be no conflicts with residents who may want to play on it. <br />B. Public Works: See attached report. Arbor Day at Woodcrest Park. Easements for the <br />trailway around Silverview Pond have been approved and work can begin soon! Solar <br />panels are installed on top of MVCC and waiting on Xcel to install meters. <br />9. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Groveland Park – 2015 Improvements – close to being ready to discuss tennis court <br />resurfacing. <br />B. Hillview Hockey Rink – continue discussion of layout, rink light repairs – (No update at this <br />time). <br />C. City Hall Park - continue discussion on splash pad, playground, picnic area and shelters, <br />rest rooms, changing areas – update from CHPTF committee: Shared vision and definition <br />of a destination park as well as next steps needed. Consider the purpose of this park-is it to <br />bring people in from other communities or for Mounds View residents? Does this change <br />our focus? Should it be considered a “destination” <br />
