ROLL CALL: <br />Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Palm, Rundle, <br /> Staff: Erickson, Peterson | YMCA: Thomas <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd Aukee. Motion Passed 7-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />A. April 27, 2017: No minutes available. Approve in June. Palm will gather the minutes. <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br />name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA: See attached report. New Sports Coordinator: Darryl Thibodeaux. Summer leagues <br />will be starting soon with about 140 participants. 130-150 children attending other summer <br />programming. Consider asking park building renters to complete a survey to get <br />feedback and see where we can make improvements. New park brochure separate from <br />MVMatters mailed to residents. Showcases programing and family events. <br />B. Public Works: See attached report. Eagle Scout candidate will be starting disc golf tee <br />boxes at Silverview Park about June 17th. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Silver View Disc Golf: Commission toured the course on the park tour this evening. Still <br />needs some clearing of trees and brush. How do we manage natural water flow through the <br />course resulting in erosion and mud? (i.e. rocks, wood barriers, wood chips?). Ramsey <br />County ditch along County Road I and Silver Lake Road should help some of this. <br />B. Pollinator Friendly City - update from staff / Council Work Session: Staff is still researching <br />this for the Commission and City Council. Hoping for an update at the July City Council <br />Work Session. <br />8. NEW BUSINESS: <br />A. Tennis and basketball Court Evaluation – Fred Kolkmann from Tennis and Sport Surfaces, <br />LLC gave his report on the status of our courts and his recommendations. We need to <br />decide which courts to save, which courts to let go, which courts to salvage and/or replace? <br />Motion to repair basketball courts at Random Park ($2.5-$3.6K estimate), and crack <br />repair with recoating at Silverview Park ($16-18.5K estimate) by Arel, 2nd by Rundle. <br />Motion Passed 7-0. Commission will discuss possible options for Greenfield and <br />Groveland tennis and basketball courts in June. Staff and Katovich will prepare options of <br />1-2 courts with and w/o basketball courts as well as lighting for June meeting.
