Motion Passed 6-0
5. PUBLIC INPUT
Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and address.
Please limit your comments to three minutes. None.
6. STAFF REPORTS
A. YMCA: See attached report. Park building and field rentals are up YTD. 5K Run registration is open for Aug 19th
during Festival in the Park.
B. Public Works: See attached report. Concerns about service trucks and aggregate piles in Silverview Park parking
lot taking up parking spaces. Staff is considering a different plan for the future. Still waiting for an update from the
City Council regarding the Splash Pad at City Hall Park.
7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Tennis and Basketball Courts at Greenfield and Groveland: Resident at 2824 Ardan Ave. sees a need for tennis
and basketball courts at Groveland. As the tennis courts have deteriorated, playing on them has decreased.
Palm sees the same at Greenfield. Commissioners agree that having one tennis court and one basketball court
at each park. Direct Staff to get price estimate for this option.
B. Forestry – City Parks, City Building grounds and in the Right of Way: Commission is still hopeful for a City
Forester. We talk about trees, but don’t have the knowledge of the right questions to ask. Staff is working with
the DNR to create an EAB response which will be proposed to the Council in the future. Working to remove ash
trees from the city parks and replacing with other trees. Also working to lock in a few tree removal companies to
have a negotiated price for removal once EAB comes to MV. Need to create a response plan for tree removal on
city property, right-of-way, and residential. Need to create a management plan for “forested” property in city trails
and right-of-ways. Invite Dept. of Agriculture to a future meeting to discuss EAB and invite residents to attend as
well as perhaps the Town Hall meeting. What are our visions for trees on city property? Kroeger will draft a list of
ideas for Commissioner review.
8. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Ramsey County, 2018 Long Lake Road Reconstruction Project: Update on trailway possibilities. Trail planned for
north of Long Lake Road between Eastwood and County Road J.
9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Brian Erickson will be moving on to Rosemount in mid-July.
10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS
ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn at 8:15 PM by Rundle, 2nd by Katovich. Motion Passed 6-0
Next Regular Commission Meeting: July 27, 2017 6:30 pm
