PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | NOVEMBER 16, 2017 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:33 PM <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL: <br />Commissioners: Arel, *Aukee, *Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Palm, *Rundle, <br /> Staff: Peterson | YMCA: Thomas *to be absent <br /> <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Kroeger. Motion passed 4-0 <br /> <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion to approve by Kroeger, 2nd by Arel. Motion passed 3-0, Kunz <br />abstain. <br />A. October 26, 2017 <br /> <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and <br />address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present. <br /> <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. YMCA: See attached report. Winter brochure will be mailed out this week! <br />Ice rink hours M-F 4-8 pm, Sat and Sun 12-8 pm, School out days 12-8 pm <br />B. Public Works: See attached report. <br />C. Forestry: See attached report. <br /> <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Forestry – City Parks, and Green Spaces: See attached report 7A. Consider defining how Mounds View <br />meets the 4 standards to qualify to be a Tree City USA. Provide hot links to City codes/chapters on the <br />website as a guide to forestry requirements in the City. PRF Commission is to advise the Council <br />regarding sanitation and reforestation programs within the City (Chapter 405.07 Subd.12.). Use resource <br />documents to help navigate tree management in the City. Perhaps address 1-2 tree program goals per <br />month (from ISA). <br />B. Appoint 2 Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission members to the Comprehensive Task Force <br />Committee: Last month Gary Rundle and John Kroeger volunteered to be on this committee. <br /> <br />8. NEW BUSINESS: <br />A. Recommend 2 Applicants for 3 – year Commission Term beginning January 1, 2018. Motion by Palm, <br />2nd by Kunz to recommend Arel and Aukee to continue their service on the Commission to the <br />City Council. Motion Passed 4-0. <br />B. Discuss/Approve 2018 Meeting Schedule: Motion by Kroeger, 2nd by Arel to accept the meeting <br />calendar as presented, meeting one week earlier in November (15) and two weeks earlier in <br />December (13). <br /> <br />9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS <br />Remember to take care of the leaves in your yard and not blow them into the street or city property. <br />Ardan Park is open through November for yard waste drop off. <br /> <br />10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS <br />1. Recommend Expenditures for Upcoming Bethlehem Baptist Church Disbursement <br /> <br />11. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn at 7:32 PM by Kunz, 2nd by Kroeger. Motion passed 4-0. <br /> <br />Next Regular Commission Meeting: December 14, 2017 6:30 pm
