Item No. 6 B <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />M E M O R A N D U M <br /> <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From: Don Peterson – Public Works Director <br />Date: November 15, 2018 <br />RE: Public Works Staff Report <br />_______________________________________________________________________________ <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. <br /> <br />Maintenance <br />Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br />• Drinking fountains and building winterizations completed <br />• Irrigation systems blown out <br />• Fall Fertilization of turf <br />• All nets removed or taken down <br />• Mulching leaves <br />• Installed new furnace in Random Park Shelter <br />• Helped out with Elections <br />• Maintenance Items at Community Center <br />• Painted exterior of Random Park Shelter <br /> <br />Forestry <br />Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br />• Continued inspections for Oak Wilt, EAB and Dutch Elm disease <br />• Meeting with tree removal contractor <br />• Continued with EAB conversations with residents <br />• City Trees identified for treatment and removal <br /> <br /> <br />The following projects are planned this year. Current updates are in black text, and updates from <br />the previous two month period are in grey. <br /> <br /> <br />Silver View Park <br />Relocate Disc Golf Course: <br />• Ramsey County started tree removal along County Road I and Silver View Road in order <br />to re-profile the draining ditch on the North and West side of the park. Public Works Staff <br />has received numerous calls with concerns and complaints on the tree removal. <br />• Ramsey County continues to work in re-profiling the draining ditch along County Road I <br />and Silver View Road, located in Silver View Park. <br /> <br />City Hall Campus: <br />Irrigation & Landscaping Improvements: <br />• Playground equipment was approved and ordered. <br />• Received Splash Pad plans, contractor currently reviewing for installation costs. <br />• Continue vision planning <br />• Play Ground and Splash Pad on hold with weather. Shelter is being worked on, some <br />delays as all the parts were not delivered. Parts are shipped from Michigan. Contractor <br />works on building as parts are available. Main Playground and splash Pad to be installed in <br />2019. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
