Mounds View City Council March 9, 2020 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn asked if the SBM firefighters recently conducted smoke detector checks. <br />She requested proper notification be given to residents regarding these events. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller thanked Fire Chief Smith for his update and dedicated service to the community. <br /> <br /> C. AmeriCorps Week Proclamation. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller read a proclamation in full for the record declaring March 8, 2020 through March <br />14, 2020 to be AmeriCorps Week in the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />8. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />A. Resolution 9248, Adopting a Calendar for the Preparation of the 2021 Budget. <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer requested the Council adopt a calendar for the preparation of the 2021 <br />budget. He reviewed the timeline for the 2021 budget and noted the draft General Fund Budget <br />would be reviewed by the Council on June 1st. Staff reported the preliminary 2021 budget would <br />have to be approved in September and the final budget would be approved on December 14th. He <br />explained the 2021 budget calendar would be posted on the City’s website. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9248, <br />Adopting a Calendar for the Preparation of the 2021 Budget. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. Resolution 9249, Adopting a Sustainable Purchasing Policy. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council adopt a Sustainable Purchasing Policy. He <br />explained the City was working to create green and environmentally friendly purchasing policies <br />that aligned with the GreenStep Cities program. He reviewed the purchasing recommendations <br />with the Council and recommended approval of the policy. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Bergeron. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9249, <br />Adopting a Sustainable Purchasing Policy. <br /> <br />Council Member Bergeron thanked staff for their efforts on this policy. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />C. Resolution 9244, Approving the Hire of Lucas Osowski for the Position of <br />Public Works Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council approve the hire of Lucas Osowski for the <br />position of Public Works Maintenance Worker. He reported the Public Works Department had <br />eight applicants for this position and after conducting interviews, Mr. Osowski was being <br />recommended by staff. <br />
