MEMO TO: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
FROM: RICK WRISKEY, FORESTER
DATE: MARCH 9, 1989
SUBJECT: CUTTING OF PUSSY WILLOWS AT SILVER VIEW PARK
It appears that a group of at least five people (some on
snowshoes) spent six hours last weekend cutting pussy willow
branches in the area northwest of Scotland Green (Silver View
Park) .
These were not your bouquet only type folks. Based on what I
saw, my guess would be that they are selling the branches for
forcing to florists, etc. A complaining resident said they had
bundles. I told her to call the police the next time it happens.
The cutting shouldn't hurt the given trees much. I would think
that all this is a matter of principle. There were also old
cuts, so it's been going on for years. Just thought you would
want to know.
RFW/SLL
