Egrets sinik <br />through tall rushes in search of <br />prey. Water lilies open bright yel- <br />low blooms to the sun. Fish dart <br />about among the shallows. An alli- <br />gator hangs motionlessly in the <br />lake. <br />A sudden movement has caught <br />my eye. Two young white-tailed <br />deer, bucks, spring from the grassy <br />marsh to my left and disappear into <br />the trees. The scene is not unusual <br />in many respects; in fact, it's typical <br />in wetland woods in Florida. What is <br />unusual is that this wetland is an <br />artifical one. <br />Previously an open pasture, the <br />Orlando Wilderness Park is now a <br />
