MEMO TO: PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR <br />PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br />DATE: JULY 27, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: SUMMARY OF ACTION REGARDING PARKS ISSUE <br />January 26, 1989 - Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br />Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed and revised the 5 year capital park <br />improvement plan. <br />Reviewed and discussed the arsenal playfield concept plan and provided a <br />recommendation to council for approval of resolution. <br />Discussed facility needs that the Parks and Recreation Commission wishes to see <br />in the design of a picnic shelter at Silver View Park. These requests were to be <br />conveyed to the Lion's Club. <br />June 5, 1989 - Council Agenda Session <br />Council requested that a land -use study and recreation survey be put in the <br />LTFP for 1991. Department heads estimated the cost to be $20,000. <br />,Tune 12, 1289 -Agenda Session <br />Council requested that staff include a feasibility study for a bridge across Silver <br />View Park pond to be included in the LTFP. <br />June 22, 1289 and Recreation Commission meeting <br />Culvert proposal requested by public works was discussed at Parks and <br />Recreation Commission meeting. Commissioners did not make recommendation <br />at this time. <br />- Commission also discussed the installation of water, sewer and electricity at <br />Silver View Park for the picnic shelter. The Commission made a unanimous <br />motion to recommend to the council the acceptance of the picnic shelter from <br />the Lion's Club and the installation of water, sewer and electricity to the facility <br />using Park Improvement Funds. <br />July 10, 1989 - Council meeting <br />Director Saarion submitted a memo as requested from Mayor Hankner outlining <br />a list of possible future projects that may be eligible for funding by the Parks <br />Improvement Fund. <br />
