MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
FROM: MARV JOHNSON, PARKS AND RECREATION DEPT.
DATE: AUGUST 225 1989
SUBJECT: OTHER CITIES' POLICIES
TOWARDS ACCEPTING DONATIONS
On Thursday, August 17, I called around to different cities to see if they
had any type of public policy pertaining to the acceptance of donations.
The cities I called were Edina, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Shakopee
and Roseville. All of these cities told me that they have no written public
policy towards the acceptance of donations. Edina, Brooklyn Center and
Shakopee said that they except any and all donations that are deemed
appropriate. By this, they mean that it has to be worthwhile for all
residents of the city.
Finally, in Roseville, they are starting to work on a city-wide policy on
accepting donations. This will give them certain standards to follow
whenever someone wants to make a donation to the city.
MJ/SL
