THE NYSCA/PTA "SAY YES" NATIONAL CAMPAIGN <br />WHAT THIS CAMPAIGN IGN WILL ACCOMPLISH: <br />Increase parental and youth league awareness of the National Standards For Youth Sports, <br />Utilize the existing network of the 33,000 local PTA units and other community organizations to promote <br />and support the efforts of the local NYSCA Chapter, <br />Let parents know that certification is an option made available to their child's coach through their <br />recreation professional, <br />Provide help in promoting the NYSCA program, as well as, volunteers to conduct certification clinics. <br />The National PTA is asking its 33,000 local PTA units to "Say Yes To Better Sports For Kids" by forming <br />a "Say Yes" Committee to support the efforts of the NYSCA Chapter. <br />The duties of the "Say Yes" Committee include: <br />1) Encouraging youth leagues to implement the National Standards For Youth Sports, <br />2) Recognizing and supporting youth leagues that organize and operate with the best interest of children in <br />mind by coordinating the "Outstanding Youth League Recognition Program" in the community, <br />3) Distributing educational materials to parents regarding their roles and responsibilities to their child in <br />sports, <br />4) Encouraging parents to ask that their child's coach be certified, <br />5) Providing support to the agency/NYSCA Chapter with "Say Yes" Committee members serving as <br />clinicians to conduct certification clinics, <br />:HOW THE LEAGUE BENE <br />1) Parents will be encouraged to send their child to leagues who, through implementing the National <br />Standards For Youth Sports, operate with the best interest of children to mind. <br />2) Parents will be encouraged to become involved in the youth league program and support its efforts. <br />3) Parents will be educated to their roles and responsibilities to their child in sports including behavior <br />expectations and support of their child's coach. <br />4) Leagues may qualify for the National Outstanding Youth League Recognition Program which confirm <br />to the community that by implementing the National Standards For Youth Sports parents can feel <br />comfortable that the league operates with the best interest of their child in mind. <br />
