`Iiow It Ca e To Be.. . A master plan_ for the development of Wylie Park Storybook Land, funded by the Aberdeen Sertoma Club and the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation ss and Forestry Department, was completed in 1971. The Sertoma Club also agreed to donate the labor and materials for the entrance Plaza. This was only the beginning of the Club's continuing support of Storybook Land. Over the past years, the Sertoma Club has donated thousands of dollars to the park as well as an enormous amount of volunteer labor, pouring sidewalks and constructing various storybook projects. The Club has also been responsible for recruiting assistance of other service clubs, businesses and individuals to donate funds and labor to make Storybook Land a reality. The purpose. of this handbook is to help you continue the tradition of community support for the entire project by giving you some examples of potential Storybook Land gifts. i Listed on the following pages are a variety of projects ranging from pur- chasing picnic tables to sponsoring the project "Mother Goose." You can use this handbook as an.. individual or as a member of a business, commu- nity organization, neighborhood group, corporation or foundation. If you cannot purchase a gift at this ,time,. you may want to consider giving part of the cost of an item, pooling your resources with another individual or group or giving in-kind serviceable equipment. All partial donations will be held in a special fund until purchase can be made. This handbook is designed so that you can personally select a gift. In return for your gift;, you will receive recognition from the City of Aberdeen and, more importantly, the knowledge that your gift is being enjoyed by the citizens of Aberdeen and surrounding communities.
