MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS <br />OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />ROLL CALL <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />COUNCILMEMBER'S REPORT <br />CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT <br />FORESTER WRISKEY'S <br />REPORT <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />February 22, 1990 <br />Mounds View City Hall <br />Council Chambers <br />6:30 p.m. <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by <br />Chairperson Wayne Burmeister. <br />Commissioners present: Burmeister, Silvis, Starr, and <br />Trettel. <br />Commissioners absent: Long and Stevenson. <br />Staff present: Director Saarion, Administrative <br />Assistant Linke, Athletic Coordinator Johnson and <br />Forester Wriskey. Director Saarion had to leave at <br />7:00 p.m. to attend a joint meeting between the City <br />Councils and School Board at Edgewood Community <br />Center. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Silvis, <br />seconded by Commissioner Trettel to approve the <br />January 25, 1990 minutes as written. Motion <br />passed: 4 ayes, 0 nayes. <br />None <br />None <br />City Forester Richard Wriskey presented the <br />Commission with handouts regarding the prevention <br />of tree thefts, the pine engraver beetle, and the <br />greenhouse effect. <br />He then gave a slide presentation based on drought <br />related issues. Slides were shown of damage done <br />by insects on drought weakened trees. Forester <br />Wriskey stated that the hardest hit area was the <br />Groveland Park region where oaks and pines have <br />died due to lack of water and insect invasion. <br />1 <br />
