PRELIMINARY PARKLAND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM <br />SILVER VIEW COMMUNITY PARK <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />MARCH, 1990 <br />FACILITY: <br />Playground equipment. <br />PRIMARY ACTIVITY/FUNCTION: <br />To provide large motor muscle development and creative enjoyment for <br />children 3 - 12 years old. <br />PLAN DESCRIPTION: <br />As a designated handicapped accessible park, play equipment user friendly <br />for children in wheelchairs and those walking impaired will also be <br />provided. <br />RECREATION CRITERIA: <br />Two separate play structures are recommended. One, a pre-school age <br />structure to be located to the east of the picnic shelter and the other a <br />handicapped accessible structure for 6-12 year olds located to the west of <br />the picnic shelter. This play equipment must be diverse to accommodate <br />pre-schoolers, elementary, schoolers and handicapped children. Also it is <br />suggested that this equipment follow a natural type design to match the <br />wooded park setting. <br />GENERAL MAINTENANCE CRITERIA: <br />The base material must follow standards. <br />GENERAL DESIGN CRITERIA: <br />Play equipment should follow a natural appearance to coordinate with the <br />natural surroundings. The ground cover should be of such a substance <br />(such as a boardwalk) to accommodate wheelchairs and the walking <br />impaired. <br />
