Junior High Softball Fro ram <br />Pro ram <br />This is a fun program designed for children in 6th through 8th grades. There is <br />seperate divisions for boys and girls. This program is not designed to produce great <br />athletes; rather it is designed to enhance the players skills and also offers and <br />opportunity to meet and interact with other children. <br />Rosters <br />Official team rosters have been compiled by the Parks and Recreation Department. Any <br />changes must be approved by the Athletic Supervisor. <br />Playing Rules <br />USSSA Rules will prevail with the following modifications: <br />a Bases shall be 60 feet apart (approximately 20 - 22 big walking steps), with 1st <br />and 3rd bases being measured from home plate down the respective foul lines. <br />Second base should be aligned accordingly with 1st and 3rd bases. <br />a Each game shall be 7 innings or one hour and 15 minutes long, which ever <br />comes first. Scheduled game times will be 6:00 pm and 7:15 pm. <br />No new inning of the first game may start after 7:15 pm. The home <br />team coach's watch shall be the offical time piece. The inning in <br />progress when the time limit concludes may be finished. <br />a The players pitch in this program. A 46 foot pitching distance should be used. <br />Coaches could agree on moving this if the pitchers are having trouble throwing <br />strikes. Pitching regulations are governed by USSSA rules. The minimum arc <br />is 3 feet from the point of delivery and a maximum arc is 10 feet from the ground. <br />a Batters get 4 balls and/or 3 strikes. If the batter gets 4 balls (before 3 strikes) <br />he/she is awarded a walk. If the batter gets 3 strikes they are considered out. <br />a One half inning consists of 3 outs or once through the entire batting order. All <br />players will bat, regardless of whether or not they are playing in the field. The <br />batting order will the same through out the game. <br />a One base is awarded on overthrows that go out of play. Runner may continue <br />to run on overthrows that stay in fair territory. <br />a If a team is ahead by more than 15 runs after 4 complete innings the game is <br />officially considered finished. <br />a The maximum number of players placed in the field is 10 players. There should <br />be one catcher, one pitcher, one player at all infield positions, and four <br />outfielders. The other other players will then be rotated in each inning with <br />everyone getting their chance to sit on the bench. All players must play a <br />minimum of three innings in the field. <br />a Positions should be changed each inning. All players should experience playing <br />all positions. Coaches should emphasize position specific play so that the <br />
