Parks and Recreation Department
Gregory A. Mack, Director
2015 N. Van Dyke Street
RAMSEY COUNTY, Maplewood, MN 55109-3796
December 10, 1997
Mr. Chuck Whiting
City Administrator
City of Mounds View
2401 Hwy. 10
Mounds View MN 55112
Dear Chuck,
Tel: 612-748-2500
Fax: 612-748-2508
The Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department has completed a master plan
for the 4.75 -mile section of the Rice Creek North Regional Trail Corridor that is located
in Ramsey County, This plan was prepared in consultation with staff of the city of
Mounds View.' Prior to submittal of this plan to the Metropolitan Council in accordance
with policies of its Recreation Open Space Development Guide Plan, the plan must be
reviewed and subsequently approved by the governing bodies of the municipalities in
which the proposed trail corridor is located.
Since a segment of the Rice Creek North Trail Corridor is located within the city of
Mounds View, I am requesting that the subject master plan be scheduled on the
agenda of the Mounds View City Council for approval. The master plan will guide the
development, management and remaining acquisition of the corridor. Twenty-five
copies of the master plan are provided for distribution to the city council, city
commissions and city staff.
The city council's earliest attention to this matter will be appreciated. The Ramsey
County Parks and Recreation Department staff will be available to attend any meetings
that are scheduled to address the proposed plan.
If you have any questions or require additional information, contact Ken Simons, at
748-2500, ext. 312.
Sincerely,
t
t
Gregory A.
