MEMO To: Parks and Recreation Commission From: Mary Saarion Subject: Mitigation at Woodcrest Park Date: August 19, 1998 Woodcrest Park has been selected as a potential site for mitigation of wetland area at the Community Center parking site. SEH engineers are preparing a report for Rice Creek Watershed to propose mitigation of wetland to Woodcrest Park. The report of American Engineering which was performed at Woodcrest Park several years ago is information used for this report. As I understand it, the western part of the park (where currently is located the parking lot, play structure and park building) will become wetland. There will be a plan developed for the redevelopment options at Woodcrest Park which would include moving the previously mentioned amentities to the eastern part of Woodcrest Park. Years ago during the redevelopment of the park, these amenities were relocated from the eastern part of the park to the western side because residents complained about the noise and trespassing that occurred as a result of park activities. A public hearing will be required for the proposed changes. I think that the Commission should discuss possible options for Woodcrest Park in the occasion that changes must be made. I do not have any of the plans from SEH at the time that this packet is mailed to you. However, I anticipate that I will have plans and information to give to you for your review at the meeting.
