OM11
EUV
"Quite Simply the Best"
March 8, 1994
Dear Mr. Edwards:
Phone: (612) 784-3055
Fax: (612) 784-3462
It was nice to meet you at the Council Work Session last evening.
I look forward to your participation in ice -making next winter.
Your participation in ice -making will be greatly appreciated and
I hope that it will result in adequate ice for your liking.
I am following through with the request from the City Council for
names and addresses of Mounds View participants in Lake Region
Hockey. In addition, please send the entire player statistics of
the Lake Region Hockey Association including the total number of
youth in each age division, as well as the numbers and overall
percentage of participation from each city including Shoreview,
Arden Hills, New Brighton, North Oaks, Vadnais Heights and
Roseville and Mounds View or whatever cities are included in the
Lake Region Hockey Association. This is standard information
that the City receives from all athletic associations. In
addition, please send copies of the scheduled practices and games
of teams and divisions, including indoor ice time and outdoor ice
time.
My son plays in the Centennial Hockey Association, and close
friends and other family members play hockey in the Mounds View
Hockey Association. I am very familiar with the structure and
practice and game schedules of the various hockey associations.
I am an advocate of youth athletics, hockey being one such
program. However, I am also entrusted to spend the City of
Mounds View's designated park tax dollars in ways that are of
greatest benefit to the majority. Therefore, citizen groups such
as the Parks and Recreation Commission, neighborhood groups, and
Task Forces are appointed to provide that citizen input.
Facility user statistics and surveys are also used as tools to
"keep in touch" with the needs and desires of the community
regarding park facilities and programs. Staff and Council strive
to carry out the requests of these groups when resources and
funding is available. Quite frankly, in the past 8-10 years,
outdoor hockey facilities has not been in great demand in the
City of Mounds View. In contrast, I know that the cities of
PR5aYIMT,01NK YR►H
nni uti,.,-,,, in e,...,a i,,,,., nnni c„ innn
