Park and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes <br />January 23, 2002 <br />Roll Call: Coughlin, Szczepanski, Silvis, Kroeger, Long, Dazenski, Lee, Roepke <br />Absent: Kahn, Gunn, Pothen, Kunz <br />Meeting Called to order: Coughlin <br />Coughlin stated that he was going to welcome and swear in the new Commission member <br />but he is not present; he will do that at the next Park and Recreation Meeting. <br />Need to nominate a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for the year 2002. Silvis <br />nominated Coughlin, Szczepanski 2"d the nomination; Commission consented. Coughlin <br />nominatee Szczepanski for Vice Chairperson; Commission consented. Coughlin <br />nominated Tracy Juell as the Official Secretary, Szczepanski 2"d <br />Coughlin stated that some of the Commission members have indicated that the 3`d <br />Wednesday of every month is causing some scheduling conflicts and would like to <br />explore the possibility of changing the date of the meeting. Coughlin will poll <br />Commission members for their date preferences. <br />NOTE: Coughlin polled committee members, Park and Recreation Commission <br />Meetings will take place on the 4th Thursday of every month at 6:30pm. (Next <br />Meeting: February 28, 2002 at 6:30pm, Council Chambers) <br />Approval of the November 28, 2001 minutes: <br />Item 3C, Long is referenced and should be Kroeger <br />Coughlin motioned to approve amended minutes <br />Motioned to approve as amended by Long <br />2"d by: Silvis <br />Unfinished Business: <br />Item 3a) Continue discussion on the YMCA vs an In -House Administrative <br />Structure. <br />Coughlin stated that Administrator Miller is working with the Finance <br />Director to provide the needed information and she will submit it to the <br />Committee when possible. <br />This item will remain as unfinished business. <br />Item 3b) Status of Community Survey Plans. <br />Coughlin stated that he hasn't received any communication regarding this <br />survey. Coughlin reiterated the purpose of the survey. Kroeger asked if <br />Coughlin has been able to reach Miller; Coughlin has not. <br />This item will remain as unfinished business. <br />Item 3c) Discuss the potential need for a skate park. <br />Coughlin asked Dazenski if he had the opportunity to talk to any other <br />communities. Dazenski replied that he had. Coughlin stated that he <br />contacted a couple of out of state cities that have more of a need for items <br />
