City of Mounds View Highly Effective Teams <br />Goals and Benchmarking <br />March 2020 <br /> <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this document is to formalize council discussion and decision specific to the <br />council’s commitment to continuous improvement to governance and operations. <br /> <br />Background: <br />The Council met in a retreat setting on March 16, 2020 for the specific focus of team building as <br />defined by Council/Staff, Council/Department Heads, and Council Commissions. City <br />Administrator Nyle Zikmund interviewed each council member individually discussing staff <br />strengths and weaknesses and council strengths and weaknesses. Weaknesses were defined as <br />those areas in which improvement would further strengthen the team. Aggregated feedback <br />was provided to Council at their retreat with a focus on sharing strengths and developing goals <br />and benchmarks for identified opportunities stemming from the feedback. The combination of <br />the Council’s significant investment of time to develop their strategic plan in combination with <br />the self-reflection occurring within the retreat demonstrates Council’s commitment to building <br />a highly effective team. <br /> <br />Identified Opportunities: <br />• Continue to work on community communication <br />• Improve relationships with Commissions. <br />• Improve council meetings <br />• Improve workshop <br />• Build stronger council relationships <br /> <br />Communication: <br />Goal – Continuous improvement in educating community on Council/City information <br />and events. <br />Benchmarks: <br />1. Leverage CTV capabilities to the greatest extent possible. <br />2. Minimum of 1 social media post per week (2 desired) - PD does own <br />3. Constant attention to the Web Site. <br />4.
