Item No: 8F <br /> Meeting Date: May 11, 2020 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9273, Approving Change Order #3 for the Water <br />Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project <br />Introduction: <br />The City Council is asked to approve the attached resolution approving change order #3 <br />for the Water Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project (City Project No. 2016-C06). <br /> <br />The City Council approved Resolution 9201 awarding a contract to Shank Constructors <br />Inc. for the Water Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project per the plans and specifications <br />as prepared by Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services (AE2S). <br /> <br />Background/Discussion: <br />During the repair work, Shank determined that an increase to the VFD blower motor is <br />required. This change would increase the blower motor from a 5hp motor to a 10hp motor <br />and allow more air exchanged in the chemical rooms of the treatment plants. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: <br />Shank Constructors has submitted a cost for change order #3 for the increase of the VFD <br />Blower motor at a cost of $11,531.00. <br /> <br />AE2S has reviewed the change order proposal and recommends approving. <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br />Ensure Clean Water and Maintenance. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: No financial Impact to the 2020 Budget. The 2020 Water Fund <br />budgeted estimate of $3,159,104.00 for Water Treatment Plant and Engineering Design. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Public Works Staff along with AE2S recommends the City Council approve the attached <br />resolution accepting the proposal from Shank Constructors for change order #3 for the <br />increase of the VFD blower motor at WTP 2/ Well 5 and WTP 3 / Well 6 for a total of <br />$11,531.00.
