RESOLUTION NO. 9271 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE 2019 MOUNDS VIEW <br />CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AMY HODGES <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Citizen of the Year Award recognizes ordinary citizens who <br />have demonstrated initiative to improving the community, whose service or performance <br />exemplifies the spirit of giving back and who inspire others in their volunteer efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, nominations were solicited from the public and were reviewed by the City <br />Council; and <br />WHEREAS, Amy Hodges, has lived in the City of Mounds View since 1956 where she has <br />served in some capacity as a volunteer to the community, was selected for the 2019 award and <br />meets the criteria outlined in the policy; and <br />WHEREAS, she has been a dedicated leader working with the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, <br />Edgewood and Sunnyside Schools PTA organizations; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to volunteering to serve the youth of our community, Amy served as <br />an election judge for approximately 40 years and also organized and assisted in numerous City <br />events including; National Night Out, Appreciation Events, Festival in the Park and also assisted in <br />the 1965 tornado disaster relief; and <br />WHEREAS, Amy was the original President of the Mounds View Lioness Club, which <br />organized and contributed to countless community activities and events, and remained a member <br />until the Club folded after being in existence for 38 years; and <br />WHEREAS, Amy has remained a constant positive presence in the Mounds View <br />community for 64 years; and <br />WHEREAS, Amy has been married to her husband Don for 70 years, who has also been a <br />life -time volunteer for the City of Mounds View, and she tirelessly supported him during his tenure <br />as Mayor, Council Member and community advocate; and <br />WHEREAS, Amy's commitment and dedication to the community has been unwavering. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City Council does hereby <br />present the 2019 Mounds View Citizen of the Year to Amy Hodges in sincere gratitude and <br />appreciation for her efforts as a long time Mounds View role model. <br />Adopted this 11th day of May, 2020. <br />E <br />Mayor Carol A.
