REPORTS 7 <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Gunn thanked the Council and staff members for participating in the parade for 10 <br />Amy Hodges who was named Mounds Views Citizen of the year. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported the executive committee for Twin Cities Gateway met 13 <br />recently in the Mounds View Council Chambers to review the 2020 budget. He noted significant 14 <br />cuts were made in marketing and no member city grants would be made. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Bergeron commented on how tremendously the City of Mounds View has 17 <br />“mobilized” to address the needs of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Mayor Mueller stated she attended a conference call with the North Metro Mayors group. She 20 <br />noted the splash pad would be closed for the remainder of the summer. She reported City parks 21 <br />would remain open for use and encouraged the public to properly social distance. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mayor Mueller explained Festival in the Park has been canceled for 2020, along with the car 24 <br />show. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Council Member Meehlhause reported NYFS would be holding a virtual board meeting on 27 <br />Thursday, May 28th. 28 <br /> 29 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 30 <br />1. Asset Management for Municipal Water System. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Public Works Director Peterson discussed an asset management program that had been created by 33 <br />AE2S, an engineering firm. He described how this program would benefit the City’s municipal 34 <br />water system. He reported maintenance on all valves and motors would be tracked. He 35 <br />commented further on how the system would greatly benefit the Public Works Department and 36 <br />recommended the Council consider purchasing the asset management system at this time given the 37 <br />fact the water treatment plants are currently being worked on. 38 <br /> 39 <br />City Administrator Zikmund reported the system would cost the City $5,000 per year and this 40 <br />expense would come out of the water and utility fund. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Mayor Mueller supported the City purchasing this system as it would assist staff with monitoring 43 <br />this system and to ensure there was not a failure. 44 <br /> 45
