The Mounds View Vision A Thriving Desirable Community Item No: 8E Meeting Date: June 8, 2020 Type of Business: CB Administrator Review: ____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9286 , Approving the Cost Proposal for the Administration Secured Entrance - Phase 2 Remodel of City Hall Background/ Discussion: The City Council approved the City Hall / Police Remodel at the May 13, 2019 Council meeting Resolution 9112. Part of the remodel included adding a new secured entrance to the City Hall Administration area. This was cut from the project as staff wanted to review different options for the new entrance. Staff has discussed with the Council at various work sessions, phase 2 of the remodel and Resolution 9247, which included new carpet and painting in all areas of City Hall. Included in the resolution was an allowance for the new Administration entrance of $39,500.00. Public Works has received two quotes for the entrance: Dering Pierson Group, LLC: $23,446.78 RAK Construction: $32,500.00 The low bid for the new Administration entrance is Dering Pierson Group, LLC of Rogers MN. The bid did not include costs for electrical modifications and the moving of the electronic door hardware. Staff recommends an allowance of $16,050.00 be approved for the new entrance, installing the electronic door hardware and any electrical modifications. Staff has discussed the project with the City Administrator and the Finance Director. The Finance Director has indicated that total cost of the 2nd phase of the project not to exceed $155,000.00. To date, the overall project cost is tracking under budget by an estimated $46,900.00 (not including the new entrance). The 2020 budget in special projects as $120,000.00 budgeted for the City Hall Remodel.
