Mounds View City Council June 8, 2020 <br />Regular Meeting Page 12 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />City Administrator Zikmund stated he would pass this information along to Mr. Harstad. 2 <br /> 3 <br /> 2. City Administrator – Update on In-Person Meetings. 4 <br /> 5 <br />City Administrator Zikmund provided the Council with an update regarding in-person meetings. 6 <br />He stated after speaking with neighboring communities the vast majority was not meeting in-7 <br />person. He indicated the only city meeting in-person was Coon Rapids and they had fitted their 8 <br />Council Chambers with plexi-glass barriers to the left, right and in front of all Councilmembers. 9 <br />He explained staff had reached out to Dana Healy at CTV to discuss social distancing. He 10 <br />indicated nine people could fit into the Council Chambers which would allow for the City Council 11 <br />and staff members to be present. He stated CTV would be drafting a memo for staff and this 12 <br />information would be forwarded onto the Council for further discussion on June 22nd. He 13 <br />commented the Council would have to consider how to hold meetings in the future and noted a 14 <br />hybrid model may encourage further resident involvement. 15 <br /> 16 <br />City Administrator Zikmund commented on the peaceful demonstrations that have been held in 17 <br />Mounds View over the past two weeks. He discussed how other communities were addressing 18 <br />policing and indicated this was another topic the Council would have to consider in the future. He 19 <br />explained he would be forwarding additional information regarding this topic to the Council. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Mayor Mueller recalled the Council had recently reviewed the Mounds View Police Department’s 22 <br />policies and procedures. She stated she looked forward to reviewing the additional information 23 <br />from staff. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Council Member Bergeron explained he appreciated how the Mounds View Police Department 26 <br />was in step with the 21st Century policing guidelines. 27 <br /> 28 <br />10.
