The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br /> <br /> <br />Item No: 8A <br />Meeting Date: July 13, 2020 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9290, Authorize Sanitary Sewer Manhole Repairs <br /> <br />Background / Discussion: <br />During regular inspection and cleaning of the sanitary sewer system, Public Works Staff <br />discovered several manholes that have ground water leaking into the manholes or <br />infiltration. Public Works researched options for the necessary repairs and determined <br />that lining the manholes would be the best option. <br /> <br />Staff contacted two companies to provide a quote to facilitate the repairs: <br />• Innovative Foundation Supportworks $27,850.00 <br />• Thul (pronounced “Tool”) Specialty Contracting $22,375.00 <br /> <br />The funding for these repairs is budgeted in the Sanitary Sewer fund, 730-4823-7050, <br />which includes $25,000.00 for manhole lining. <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: No Impact to the 2020 Budget as repairs are budgeted, Sanitary <br />Sewer Fund, 730-4823-7050, for these necessary repairs. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval and authorization for Thul Specialty Contracting of Elk River <br />MN for $22,375.00 to line various manholes; monies budgeted in the Sanitary Sewer <br />Fund account 730-4823-7050. <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Don Peterson, Public Works Director
